Web services security vendor Forum Systems Inc. announced this week that its XWall XML firewall will be bundled with the Borland JBuilder 2005 Companion CD due to ship this week.
Developers working on the Borland platform can use the XWall to secure Web services without needing to code additional security into applications.
Developers can use a WSDL document as a template to quickly write security rules. Integrated WS-I compliance tests enable developers to check whether a Web service conforms during both design and run time.
The latest version of XWall includes intrusion prevention capabilities. It detects known and unknown attacks using 15 rules that can be reconfigured at any time. The firewall uses signature files and heuristics to detect attacks, then blocks, quarantines or throttles them until an administrators can review it. It also provides access control to Web services, deciding on individual XML and SOAP messages, APIs, users and URLs.
